Workshops for students and teachers
The Schaubühne’s educational programs have access to their own rehearsal space, where students and teachers and other interested parties can experience the expressive possibilities of theater first-hand. Uta Plate offers workshops lasting several hours which are tailored to each mainstage production.After some warm-ups and preparation, the group begins with stage improvisations, in which each participant can find his or her own personal connection to the themes of the work at hand. This method creates direct access to the material by the authors, many of which are still new and unfamiliar to the participants. The group may also work with specific passages of the text and with the production concepts, allowing an understanding of the production’s aesthetic through personal experience.
It is recommended that you look at the piece only after the workshop, so all participants can enjoy the improvisation and other exercises without any bias on the work. Any interested audience members can register for these monthly introductory workshops (Please consult the theater’s schedule for exact dates and times). Interested teachers and students, as well as other groups, can schedule an extra session by telephone.
