Anton and his wife Thekla have moved into a new house, and his job also seems to be going well. But then Anton’s boss Aschenbrenner finds out that Anton has forged his signature and fires him. Anton is desperate, but at home he pretends that nothing has happened. How long can he keep it up? When will he give himself away? And how will Thekla react when she discovers the truth?

Before the background of a bombed-out city and the unscrupulous deals of the New Economy, Mayenburg tells the story of a social climber who falls again, asking whether private and professional happiness can be separated.
